Here is an unusual site that promises to take you back through time. Classic Bareback is all about viewing those old photos of wrestlers and hunks, bodybuilders and younger guys who were the pioneers of gay porn. It’s nostalgia all the way with a journey back to the days of original bareback content. Pre-condom, historically hot and erotic images and guys are promised here and there are classic videos available too.

The content in the members’ area at Classic Bareback is arranged in a very simple fashion. There is a Movie Archive, a Bonus Section and a Photo Section. The updates and news are on the home page and everything is accessed from the top menu; nice and simple. So, let’s put on our time travelling togs and zip back to the past to check out the old movies that are available to us here.
The first thing I noticed about the movie index pages was the layout. Simplicity prevails here with straightforward tables that contain a shot from the film, some description, the file size and run time and a link to the movie’s main page. Run times vary both here and in the Bonus area where you will find more scenes. Example: One of the titles runs for over an hour while another runs for 20 minutes; all are available to stream in shorter clips that play in WMV and Flash players, embedded into the pages. I checked out ‘Beyond the hole’, clicked the link and found the next page carried the same details as the index page plus links to my choice of viewer. There were nine clips for this movie and, after selecting the WMV version, these appeared on another page with a thumbnail from each scene to click, so you get an idea of what each scene/clip is about before you start the stream. And, when you select your clip, you come to another page with the viewer in it but don’t think that you’re getting lost here with all these pages, you still have navigation buttons to get you back to the video selection pages.
As for the quality of the Classic Bareback movies… well, remember that these are films from the past, pre-digital (pre Jeff Stryker etc.) and have been converted from film to a digital format. You’ve still got the scratches and ‘noise’ that you find on celluloid, particularly when it’s old, and you've got some fabulous 1970’s fashions and hair styles to giggle at but the guys and what they have between their legs are just as impressive as any porn model working today. The bareback sex too is horny and of course is totally original. Even at full screen these movies stand up to the quality test, baring in mind their age, and the soundtracks are fine too. So no worries there.

I'm not sure why some are in the archive and some are in the bonus section but it doesn’t matter; these clips and scenes are still as good as the main videos – only shorter. Everything works in the same way and you have historical material here that was probably quite groundbreaking in its day. Classic Bareback has kept to its promise of bringing you blasts from the past and it’s managed to do this while maintaining as much of the original atmosphere of the videos and while keeping the quality as good as possible. It’s a small collection but let’s hope more of these classic scenes are added as time goes by.

In fact I can find very little to complain about with Classic Bareback though there are some things I’d like to see: more info about each title would be good, things like the studio and the cast. Collectors of old porn movies would be interested in this and it can’t be hard to discover the information. Downloadable videos would also be a nice touch; I could only find ways to stream them. But that’s about it really; with slideshows, choices of video viewers and easy to navigate pages Classic Bareback is a good enough site for me; a bit short on content at the moment but hopefully this will change before long.

This is a great site for anyone interested in viewing classic gay porn. If you’re into bareback then you will find the original thing here. The visual quality doesn’t compare to modern day bareback movies of course, though the performances do, so look at Classic Bareback as a site for classic porn rather than top notch digital and you’ll do fine. There is enough content to keep you happy for a while but more would help and don’t expect digital clear images and vids, that’s into what the site is about. It’s about preserving good old fashion bareback and other gay sex scenes that would otherwise never see the light of day. Bravo.
