Gaping Angels

Christoph Clark has always been a heavy hitter when it comes to directing scenes that are simultaneously overtly filthy and breathtakingly beautiful. And his work at Gaping Angels is no exception. These scenes come from some of his better DVD titles, including one of my own personal favorites: Angel Perverse. Just as the site's moniker implies, these ladies all end up with massive, gaping rectums. But as the great Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Life is a journey, not a destination."

So, how do these girls end up at destination prolapsed anus, you ask? Generally it involves lots of toys, occasionally even hands, and, of course, massive dicks, balls deep in their delicate rectums. There seems to be no real orifice of choice here, though, and it's not at all uncommon to see wide-eyed young starlets who have damn near every hole — all the interesting ones, anyway — in their body plugged with oversized, phallic-shaped objects.

And since it's Mr. Clark sitting in the director's chair, we get lots of interesting set pieces, wacky costumes, and great cinematography. A notable example of all of the above would the scenes from Fuck My Ass, which show hot lesbians like Nataly Gold and Misha Cross getting stretched out by pseudo-medical instruments on the exam table of a doctor's office and archaic vibrators on dingy old plaid couches. What in lesser hands might just end up being run-of-the-mill hardcore always winds up strange and visually appealing when Christoph Clark is at the helm. Perhaps that is why he is one of the most prolific porn directors in the business.

Raw playback quality varies quite a bit, with some of these episodes obviously having been produced in an era of minimal production values. The newer scenes, however, area available 7 different resolutions, ranging from a lowly 160p all the way up to dazzling 720p and 1080p high-def. These options are available for both streaming and downloading, and if you're more prone to the former, you'll be happy to know that the embedded player works quite well, not suffering from many of the annoying issues that, for whatever reason, still plagues far too many high-end sites to this day.

I recommend you actually download these babies, though, as there's a lot of real keepers in the mix that, if you're truly a fan of gaping rectums, you'll assuredly want to add to your own personal collection. Plus, download speeds around these parts are quite nice, always clocking in at well above 2 megs-per-second.

And while the photo galleries certainly aren't the best I've ever seen, they have their fair share of keepers, too. Plus, unlike during my last visit to the site, this time they actually work. The resolutions sizes are nice and quite a bit more consistent than the video resolutions were. This is no doubt due to the fact that the standalone photo galleries got started a bit late in the game, which makes for a bit of a double-edged sword since there are a lot less of them. At the time of this review there's only 212 photo sets. And, sadly, I don't see that number increasing anytime soon, either.

Why? Because there hasn't been a new update on the site in over 6 months. While looking through the archives I noticed that large lapses between updates are quite common here, so I haven't totally given up on there being any new updates. Still, who wants to wait that long for something new to watch? One can only hope Mr. Clark has an epiphany and realizes the only way mankind can move forward is if he creates new gaping content day and night. If not, we'll just have to settle for the site's currently irregular, downright horrid update schedule.

Another blow came when I realized that the bulk of this content is not, in fact, available in high-definition. Out of the 457 scenes on the site, only 212 are available in high-definition, and even less than that in 1080p.

But as bad as all that is, perhaps for some of you this will be made up for by the fact that membership here includes full access to the Evil Angel network, which houses 26 other filthy sites, many of which featuring content shot by Christoph Clark.
