Logging into the members’ area you find one of the tour promises is met right there. They say there are 12 categories of images in the site, and there are. That’s your home page with twelve boxes each one giving a sample shot of the kind of guys or action behind it. Simply click your favourite niche and you are away. Remember that this is a photo only site and there are no videos. (But there are some with the extras, later.)

I first sampled the Twinks, and there were nearly 1,000 albums in this area alone. There are around 2695 galleries in total, though new content wasn’t coming along that regularly when I visited. There had been no update for a few months. The site stated 229,756 individual images but it’s hard to count as some galleries appear in more than one set. You may find a couple of twinks have the same set in Couples as well as Twinks, for example. There were various numbers of images per set, but you could reckon on 100 as a rough average, and these are not exclusive image sets, at least, not all of them are. They don’t have very inventive titles; sets were labelled as Photo set #02583 for example, but they do come with their upload date and on easy to use index pages where the sample shots are big and clear. Click an image to get to the thumbnail pages and there you find your viewing options.

Click an image to open the online viewer and you can then click through one at a time. Images were up at 1,024 x 680 at first (though older sets may have smaller images), and these were scaled down from an original size at 1,524 x 1,025, which was slightly too big for my screen. The quality may vary. I saw some very good sets of images, and some that looked more amateurish in execution. Some looked like studio setups while others were taken in more natural environments. What’s really nice at Gay Photo Album is that images come with zip file downloads, in both 1,024 px and 1,600 px, and you have the same two options of online viewing. I even found these options available in the very first set, number 0001, which actually only had one image.

There is a basic search box to use, and then the various headings for the galleries, but I would have liked an even more detailed search function; there is an advanced search page which helps. The site runs on a template design that has some built in extra features, and you can reorder the content and it’s easy to jump through the viewing pages. Content does have a few linked tag words but it could do with more; mind you, you are able to add your own, you can also rate content and sets to a favourites area. There are also places for comments and so all the good and standard interactive functions are available.

A quick rundown of your menu items will show you what is also available. First of all there is the content menu, beneath the banner, and this takes you directly to all the content with the galleries arranged by date. And then to: Amateurs, Asian, Bears, Bisexual, Couples, Fetish, Group, Hunks, Jocks, Studs, Twinks and Underwear. See? It’s easy to get to a specific category and then back again. Your top menu though takes you to Home, the Photos, and the Bonus sites.

Here we pause to take in the bonus sites: you should get access to Amateur Do It and Wank Off World when you join here, tow really hot sites. And then there are 20 feed sites to check out, including Treasure Island, Jake Cruise and Rear Stable. It’s a nice set of extras that includes many videos. Okay, back to the other content items in the menu and you have a nice set of around 100 well written erotic stories. So, a nice load of reading to compliment a nice set of galleries.
