Beware of the somewhat distracting peel ad on the preview page that takes you away from the hentai site and dumps you into a harcore movie site. Annoying, but you can avoid it. Because this site is part of a hentai-specific network, you also get access to other hentai sites with comics, games, pics, etc. The preview pages make the claim that they are the biggest hentai site on the internet with 1500 movies and over 400 GB of content. Are they the biggest? We’ll be the judge of that!

Hentai Movie Planet isn’t one of those sites that you can just jump into and immediately start watching movies. Before you can watch all of their movies, you need to download a “Tools Pack” that contains all the movie codecs, the add/remove subtitles tool and the Classic movie player. I thought that annoying peel ad would disappear once I was inside the member’s area, but it’s still there. It takes you to a totally different site, so if you don’t want to be pushed off your path to the hentai goodness, avoid it.
Overall, the navigation here is a bit funky. The updates for the current month are listed on the main page. I could never really figure out exactly how things were laid out, so I just started clicking links at random until I came to a movie I wanted to see. Once you’re on an actual movie page, you can navigate deeper into the video archive by clicking different letters of the alphabet to get to movie titles that start with that letter. I think it would have been helpful to have some navigation into the archive from the main page.

Once you get to a video, the method to watch the video is not completely intuitive. You have to click the blue “Download Now” link on the video player. Clicking inside the player window does nothing. Sometimes the videos will stream in-player and sometimes they have to be downloaded. Those videos that have to be downloaded come sometimes as a .mkv file and sometimes as a .rar file which you then have to unpack (using WinRar or a similar program) in order to get the video on your hard drive and into a watchable format. Whew! That’s a lot of work just to watch a movie.
Once you are able to watch a video, you'll find the standard hentai fare. Good hentai movies are hard to find, so I really wanted to love Hentai Movie Planet. But the usability is what put me off this site. The movies inside may be great, but they’re hard to play and the navigation is a nightmare. When I’m looking at porn, I want to get off, not jump through hoops just to watch a video. Final decision: great site, but it needs some work.
