Lavender Lounge

That quirky look continues in the members’ area where there’s a neat cartoon of hunky guys with tight jeans and big bulges waiting to get into the VIP area. But we are already there and on the left we have a menu of those promised goodies to explore. Apparently this site is ‘Porn Different’ and I'm interested to see just how different and whether those tour promises have been kept.

Video Galleries – Videos Home was my first port of call and this area was divided into four sections. There were 23 exclusive videos ‘created by me’. (Though I wasn’t sure who ‘me’ was, ‘me’ does do some interviewing and there’s a chat with porn legend Jeff Stryker.) I selected an action movie from the thumbnails to see what was what and found that particular movie divided into six clips. Selecting another thumbnail the clip started to stream in a Quick Time player – a small to medium sized screen, good quality image and sound though. If you have the Pro version of the software you can also save the clips this way – or so it says.

Those were the Lavender Lounge exclusive videos; the other video pages included the Gay Video Café where I found a ‘gazillion billion’ movie clips in various genres. (Not my words and I didn’t count every one but there were lots of clips, some better and longer than others.) there were scenes from Falcon productions which opened in new windows – actually everything was starting to open in new windows at this point and I soon had quite a few open, something I’m not too keen on. I couldn’t get the Falcon clips to play (if they were there) but kept getting directed to their store instead. The same thing happened with Naked Sword where there were loads of videos listed but again I could only get to the pay per view or the ‘sign up for membership’ pages.

So I checked the photos area instead where I found nine genres and the photo content that was promised on the tour. I almost missed some content here as the page numbering appears in the left hand frame and not, as you would expect, beneath or on the page of galleries: there were actually five pages in the Vintage section, where I started, giving me a total; of 87 galleries from the past. Then I found 14 bear and cub galleries, 66 ‘paparazzi’ ones with shots from Pride marches and other public, gay events, 26 Hunk galleries, 12 ‘Faerie’ ones (an odd assortment of twinkie Goths), 10 punks, 12 twink sets, 45 solo straights and 11 belly worships sets with six packs and beer bellies included. Each set had between 15 and 300 images that you could rate and run as a slide show.

So that was the content as far as I could make out. The tour promises are kind of kept at this site: you certainly get treated to a good selection of images and there are lots of video clips, but some are not the best quality. I checked some other parts of the main menu to see what were the latest additions and then the Upcoming pages which showed not only a sample of what to expect but a date when to expect it. I like that kind of information so hats off to the Lavender Lounge for putting it up. Looking at the dates, which went up to four months in advance, I’d say there is something new added to the site each week in terms of a new picture set and/or a new video clip.
