Straight Guys are Broke

The main page that you come to when you enter Straight Guys Are Broke contains the list of movies – yes there are movies and galleries here and they look to be exclusive. There were 37 when I was in the site and the most recent five were available in High Definition format as well as in the other formats.

Here we come across our first problem, or at least my first problem. I tried to click one of the three streaming options and received a page error message. I tried another and nothing happened at all. I searched out the help and support centre and found the FAQ relating to video viewing problems. Here I was told that I needed to be viewing in one of a list of browsers in order for the videos to play – these were all old and, to my mind, out of date browsers and I didn’t feel like going back to IE 4.0 or 5.0 for example in order to view them. Even if I was on one of those browsers I would still have needed the Vivo Active plug in which, as far as I could see, was only suitable for older operating systems (in my case Windows 95 or NT!) I wondered how many folk actually use these older browsers and why would an up to date and HD site be running on them and not Windows XP or later? And, what would happen if you were told this on the tour and not once you had signed up – what would you do?

Luckily though I could download a version of each movie so, although I can’t give you’re the technical details and dimensions for the streaming versions, I can tell you that the downloaded scene was a WMV file, 420 x 316 screen size and played at 340 kbps. (Not HD and but brilliant quality but quick to download.) And now I have to say something I didn’t think I would even have to say about a gay porn movie, I hated it! The guys were fine to look at and the sex was all you could wish for but I came away from the scene I viewed thinking that it had been made for the cameraman or director and not for me. Why oh why does a director of a porn movie have to talk all the way through? There was a conversation going on between him and the obviously gay guy (both of whom were laughing and joking like queeny twinks but who were actually quite advanced in years and should have known better) while the presumably straight one was doing as he was told, ‘look at the camera’, ‘suck his dick… no really suck his dick…’ Sorry Straight Guys Are Broke but after viewing that one scene I didn’t want to view any more.

O.k so that rant is out of the way and you may actually get off on that kind of ‘dialogue’ so if you do then go and enjoy – you'll love it. It was a bit worrying that I didn’t want to spend my time downloading any more movies though after only seeing one. Instead I viewed some galleries – at least they weren’t talking at me in a queeny voice. In the galleries you get to see these amateur looking guys in all their (silent) glory. Images are a good size, 667 x 1000 for example and are clear and well taken. These aren’t just rip offs from the video but are posed, studio shots which are always good to see. A few of them need to be turned around the right way but other than that the galleries just about saved the day for me. And the other thing that saved the day was the bonus content. You can access 36 sites in the same network and view all their exclusive content. There are a further 36 feed sites, some downloadable Mpegs and even games. Add to that the guys who appear on the featured feed, His First Gay Experience, and you have a large package of extras and bonuses at this site.
