Vera Baby

Once logged in, I was immediately greeted with a message from none other than Vera herself, informing me that I shouldn't be surprised if the layout changes in the near future, as the site's "constantly being upgraded!" I was also reminded to advantage of my bonus access to a likeminded "mega site." This, combined with the sleek, very user-friendly design of the page, made me feel like Vera and I were off to a very good start indeed.

But who is this Vera? The only thing I could divine about her from the tour was that she was undeniably beautiful, that she had a somewhat eccentric fashion sense, and that she apparently has no qualms about showing off her perfect, all natural(save for a few tattoos) body. Well, as it turns out, there's more than meets the eye with svelte young beauty. With most of these single model sites, if you get a journal at all you can expect it to be full of vapid entries, merely serving as a self promotion tools, and containing a little bonus content — if you're lucky.

Vera's journal, on the other hand, which was filled with 2,000+ word entries, gave me a lot of insight into this young beauty. For instance, did you know that she creates many of her own costumes? Well, she does, and there's even a journal entries detailing the process, complete with step-by-step photos. She's also a self confessed metalhead, comic nerd, and cat person. Personally, I find this sort of information really adds to the whole experience of browsing a site like this. I mean, looking at pretty young things is nice and all, but I find you can really take the orgasm to the next level when you know that the model you're looking at is a real living, breathing, three-dimensional character with hopes and dreams, just like the rest of us.

Really, all the personal touches on the site really give you the feeling that Vera cares about her fans. Aside from the journal, you'll find a "members chat," a webcam show, and, my personal favorite, a link for private messaging Vera herself. What's more, in just about every scene and set posted on the site, you'll find loads of enthusiastic comments from members, many of whom probably found Vera on Deviant Art, or perhaps even whilst trolling around Comic-Con. In any event, it's obvious they care, and with a model so damned hot, who can blame 'em?

Speaking of hot, I'm really impressed by these photo sets. With a lot of cos-play material on the web, you get really vague incarnations that sort of remind you of figures in pop-culture, but Vera goes all out. Members get to see her dressed as such beloved characters as Snow White, Princess Peach, and the Joker's sexy sidekick, Harlequin. These aren't dime store costumes, either. They're film accurate replicas(sometimes with a few liberties taken here and there), and Vera looks damn good wearing 'em, too.

Of course, you'll also find her sporting more generic — but super hot — looks. For instance, I was just viewing a set where she's decked out in a full Native American headdress, showing off her bod againstsome blazing hot desert backdrop. Before that I was watching her strut her stuff in head-to-toe bondage gear, complete with a set of rather menacing looking chains. And I don't think I'll ever forget watching her perform a striptease in frightening looking clown make-up. The girl's a goddamn chameleon.

Another truly impressive aspect of the site is the raw quality of its content. The videos, for instance, are impressively shot and edited in a style reminiscent of music videos. What's more, they're served up in MPEG-4s with great play-back quality. Currently members can choose to stream or download in either 720p or 1080p high-definition.

The photo galleries are quite impressive, too. All the images are well lit and shot, and Vera does a fantastic job of posing sexily for the camera. My only real complaint would be that while these are, in fact, high-res images, they're not exactly the 4,000 pixel photos that the tour page promised. Still, a resolution of 1,000 x 1,600 pixels is nothing to sneeze at . . . .

What was a lot harder to overlook, however, was the fact that there hasn't been a new video update since February. She's been adding new photo galleries regularly — in fact, as I write this the latest gallery was posted just three days ago — since the site's inception, but for whatever reason the video history has always been a bit spotty. I can only assume that this is because the video content takes longer to produce. Whatever the reason, though, it's still awfully disheartening. Especially when you couple that with the fact that a few of the videos aren't even really pornographic. Case in point: the three part series of interviews with some local disc jockey.

Going back to the photos for a moment, I was also a bit miffed to see that the image count as so damn inconsistent from set to set. Many have as few as 5-7 shots, while others have upwards of 60 images. With some many sets holding 10 or less images, it makes me feel like the numbers are a bit inflated. I doubt this intentional, but it's disconcerting, nonetheless.

Going back to the positive, I think it's worth noting that your membership at Vera Baby includes access to Sweet Angels, a site which houses over 100 videos, and 8,400+ sexy photos, many of which featuring alt and goth models. This, combined with all the bonus goodies thrown in by Vera, makes that $19.95-per-month membership quite the bargain.
