The problem with reviewing an online store is that any shop is only as good as its word. So if it says that you have good quality merchandise, how do you know until it arrives? And how do you know that delivery is quick and punctual unless you've actually bought something? Well, all I can really do here is tell you what the shop has and how good the site is to use, does it all work? Is it sensibly arranged and so on? So let’s try and do that.

Once I was registered and had logged in, I came across the first problem, for me at any rate. The site, before you log in, is available in French and English, but once I was logged in I only found the French version, and didn’t see a way of putting things back into English. You may gather that I don’t read French, not very well at any rate. I did manage to find out that the support centre was via a phone number, and there wasn't a help page so I couldn’t look up how to change the language. But pictures speak a thousand words in any language and I was able to see the products, and the DVD box covers, quite easily, and the prices too, which were in Euros.

I started with the DVDs, as these were first on the menu which, by the way, is neatly laid out. There were 20 DVDs per page and well over 20 pages, so there’s plenty to choose from. In fact you have 18 categories in a drop down list for ease of browsing, and these include what’s new, and some special offers. There is good variety here, from Turkish guys to Flava productions, Triga from the UK and other European studios, including French, there are also Israeli guys, Arabs, bisexual action, twinks and all other kinds of hot porn all neatly presented. You get sample pics with each DVD and some have a short trailer to run too. These are good quality Flash streams that survive at full screen, though faster connections will be better for buffering.

As for prices, I’d say these were well priced, at least they were not over the top. There were, for some random examples, Triga DVDs for ?32.90 and other studios up at around ?50.00. The recommended pricing, I guess, is set by the studio, and some DVDs are more expensive because they contain more scenes. The cheapest I saw was ?9.90, and this was in the promotions department, so it’s worth keeping an eye on that.

Sex toys was next in the Gayxpert.com menu and here you’ve got three pages of toys, dildos of all shapes, sizes and colours, plus butt-plugs, rings, handcuffs and masturbation toys. A neat little collection, again with sensible prices. The Stimulants area holds your ‘aromas’ (for that read ‘poppers’) and there are all kinds and makes here including the famous Jungle Juice. Intime, as it says in French, or Intimate as it does on the tour in English, is where you find lubes, douches and condoms.

Ok, now we come to the part where you actually order something. I put a pack of condoms (kingsize I will have you know) in my shopping cart at ?9.90. Then I added Twink Pool Party, the DVD from 8teen studios at ?42.90. A total of ?52.80. The total, including my ‘Frais de livraison’ (whatever that is) came to ?61.30 so I assume that’s postage and packing. I didn’t go through the process any further than that, apart from to check the delivery area, and that seems to be world wide.

But I did check the video on demand area quickly and found content from seven varied sites available with loads of different scenes. When you click ‘voire’ to view, you come to the site on which that movie sits, and here I could go back to English, you need to buy tickets to actually view the movie as you would expect at a VOD site and the more you buy the cheaper it becomes.
