Jonni Darkko XXX

Immediately upon logging in, there was no mistaking that I was in the right place. The blood reds and pitch black tones of the color scheme, the wild categories, the imagery of women nearly choking to death on cocks — it all screamed Jonnie Darkko.

Some directors spend decades trying and failing to find their own style, and even the ones who do rarely achieve anything that matches the spontaneous, visceral quality of Mr. Darkko's work. Jonni seldom wastes time with plot or gimmick. Hell, his scenes rarely even feature dialogue. More often than not, by the time the camera starts rolling the fires of passion are already well lit.

Like Stanley Kubrick, Jonni Darkko had a background in still photography before his extensive film directing career began. And also like Mr. Kubrick, Mr. Darkko's experience shines through with expertly framed shots painting vivid, striking pictures that you won't soon forget. But instead of brave men floating in the endless void of space or hotel elevators gushing blood, expect once pristine anuses transformed into prolapsed grotesqueries and gorgeous goddesses siphoning gangbangs worth of semen out of their own vaginas with a hose.

The videos on this site have almost always been available in a variety of different playback qualities. The latest scenes can be both streamed and downloaded in seven, ranging from a lowly 160p all the way up to a mighty 1080p HD. Speaking of streaming, I quite enjoyed the embedded player. It had a number of handy features, most notably the ability to mark specific sections of the timeline. For my money, there is nothing quite so convenient as coming back to your favorite part of a scene for a quick spank.

While each scene has its own attached selection of still images, more discerning collectors may want to check out the pictures section which currently houses 425, each with somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-120 eye-catching shots. While I cannot say for sure whether or not Mr. Darkko shot these images himself, I can say that they are quite stunning. So stunning, in fact, that I added a number of these sets to my own personal collection.

I must confess, I have never been a fan of porno muzak, so when I noticed most scenes had distinctive soundtracks, I was initially quite nervous. I soon realized, however, that the music was low enough in the mix and tastefully enough done as to not be distracting. After a while, I even found myself growing accustomed to it. I suppose it suits his highly stylized brand of porno. But for those of you just can't stand music in your porn, perhaps it will be enough to know that it is used sparingly, often only in the initial buildup/intros.

Perhaps my biggest complaint about this site would be that video playback quality is quite inconsistent — particularly, although not limited to, scenes further back in their archives. They didn't even start offering 720p HD until October 14th, 2010, which means that the first 239 videos are only 480p SD. Even after the introduction of 720p HD, 480p-only scenes were still showing up sporadically throughout the archive.

In their defense, 737 of the 1712 scenes currently housed on the site are available in HD quality, which isn't a bad percentage, all things considered. Let's hope that with their continued growth, that percentage of non-HD scenes will become trivial in the coming years.

My only concern in that regard is that their numbers have actually slightly decreased since our last review. So, I have to wonder, are they slowly taking down old episodes and re-mastering them in high-definition quality? Or — and I certainly hope this is not the case — are they recycling content?
