Considering the sheer size of the network, the layout of the main page is surprisingly clean. In fact, the main menu only has 6 buttons: Home, Videos, Pictures, Girls, Studios, and Store. The middle of the page is filled up with links to recent updates, and featured studios and models. There's an advanced search engine, too, and it lets you narrow things down using personal keywords, porn star names, and a list that contains over 45 niches. One glance at the latter and I knew I was in for a predominantly hardcore experience. The head of the list contained P.O.V., Bukakke, Hairy, Squirting, and Gang-bangs.

There's another menu in the top, right-hand corner. This one is more along the lines of your own account control panel. From here you can manage your own favorites, which actually get a lot more specific than a lot of other sites, letting you separate them by model, media-type, and studio. You can also change your own personal preferences for the site, though you're limited to manipulating auto-play on streaming videos and thumbnail size. The most interesting feature, I think, is the personal message center. If you get all hot and bothered watching these videos, you can communicate with other members of the site.

Navigation aside, there's certainly plenty of material here to keep you occupied. Just as advertised on the tour, you'll find 2049 scenes and 480 galleries. The content dates back to the 2004, so I'm assuming that's around the time the site launched. Unfortunately, it's difficult to pin-point a precise update schedule, because their date marks are quite vague. Their latest updates are labeled "1 year ago." And since I've seen no updates from the site in the last few weeks, I'm inclined to believe that's a real possibility. Don't get me wrong, it's still probably worth giving a look, in spite of no recent updates. Again, the numbers are nice, as is the selection. But it's still kinda disheartening no matter how you slice it.

Each video has a detailed synopsis, cast list, descriptive tags, and rating. There's also a nice scene selector that lets you avoid all the setup, which works out nicely if you're really horny or just suffer from a short attention span. Speaking of which, everything streamed and downloaded quite nicely. The average speed was somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.1 megs-per-second. Overall, I liked the setup for the page, and the niche tags in conjunction with the advanced search feature make finding things a lot easier than I'd initially expected.

Amateur Network's weakness is a lack of format options, and, more importantly, HD quality video. While the scenes are quite clear and, thankfully, offered in full length versions, they're still exactly up to today's standards. Especially not with every other site offering 1080p HD. On the other side of the fence, play-back quality is above average. And they were also good enough to offer up a mobile-friendly file. Still, the tour did say shot in HD, so I definitely went in thinking I might see some high-end files.

I guess I just expected more. I certainly think these scenes deserve more. In my time spent at the site, I've witnessed hardcore, suspiciously cuckold like threesomes, interracial sex, foot fetishism, squirting. A little bit of everything, really. Variety is nice, but it doesn't mean a thing if you can't put it all together. I'm happy to report that the scenes here were quite well done. Some of the content is scripted, but it as handled well and done in the vain of everyone's favorite bus site. Things get surprisingly dark at times, too. I was pleasantly to find quite a few damsel in distress type scenarios. All in all, it's a very kinky mix that's not at all suited for fans of softcore.

The galleries have pretty much the exact same setup as the video pages, save for all those pictures, of course. There's usually around 80 images per gallery, though I've seen some go as high as 150. There's no multiple resolution options, but the shots up for grabs look great and have a nice sized resolution. They were also smart enough to keep their watermark quite small and out of the way. The sets are pretty standard in their flow. You'll get a lot of teasing action early on, which leads up to the ultimate reveal. If you dig around enough, you'll find plenty of keepers. I know I grabbed several dozen for my amateur folder.
